The bi-directional policy that protects hotels and Assigeco clients

Asat and the broker Assigeco, through the company ERGO Assicurazione Viaggi (already Erv Italia), have signed an agreement that protects both parties in the case of cancellation and interruption of the stay.

Trentino, an area with a strong commitment to tourism, once again confirms itself as a dynamic experimental outpost in terms of innovation and adaptation to market trends, always demonstrating a specific sensitivity towards the customer. The latest innovation was born of the synergy between the Hotel and Tourist Enterprises Association of the Province of Trento and Assigeco, an insurance broker since 1977, and the ERGO Assicurazione Viaggi company, which have signed an important two-way agreement that protects both the interests of Asat member hotels and their clients for reasons of cancellation and interruption of their stay. An agreement that was presented this morning at the headquarters of the Asat in Trento by the president of the association Luca Libardi and the deputy director Davide Cardella, as well as by Assigeco official Gianni Rosina.

The partnership was born of the willingness of the Trentino sector association to guarantee its members' customers a new service and from the specific commitment of ERGO Assicurazione Viaggi in the development of customised solutions for the hospitality sector.

This is a specially designed policy called "Stornohotel - formula partner", which already integrates another successful Erv proposal. The new product insures the customer in the event of cancellation or interruption of the stay and offers the dual advantage of simultaneously protecting the hotel. In addition to the reimbursement of deposits already paid, the policy intervenes in favour of the hotel, if it is a creditor of an amount. For example, as a penalty, not yet paid by the customer.

Similar guarantees already exist in Italy, but none has the peculiarity of extending to all residents of the European Union and the European Economic Association and can be stipulated up to 48 hours after booking. The list of insured events covers most of the causes which statistically lead to cancellation or interruption of the stay. In particular, illness, accident or death, dismissal, redundancy or lay off, re-employment, summoning to court, material damage to the home, damage to the vehicle in transit, theft of identity documents necessary for foreign travel, changes to dates of exams and public competitions. The maximum amount set by the policy is 8,000 euros per insured person, while overdues are set at 10%, except in the case of death or hospitalization for more than 3 days. In the latter case, the deductibles shall be 0%.

In a modern and highly evolved age, validation and underwriting operations can be carried out on a linear basis via the Internet. Thanks to the frame-tool technology provided by ERGO Assicurazione Viaggi , hotel structures can intuitively, quickly and absolutely free of charge, integrate the sale of the policy directly on their website.

The advantages? "Insurance coverage - concludes Libardi – it also has indirect benefits for the hotelier as, if he identifies and applies correct and balanced cancellation policies, he may have clear benefits in terms of advance cash flow".
